Will an ipod touch using the same wifi as my ps3 make my ps3 lag when playing online games?

my sister recently got an ipod touch and is constantly downloading apps and what not, and at about the same time i start lagging when playing online games on ps3. Is this a coincidence or is that ipod making me lag? Any answers are appreciated.
